Apple Cider Donuts

Apple Cider Donuts

What better way to start off Fall than by baking apple cider donuts? The trick to mastering this recipe is to have a really good apple cider (check out my homemade apple cider recipe).

Tips and Tricks

  • The molds I used for this recipe were these silicone/rubber-type molds from Amazon and in my opinion, they were not the best. If possible invest in a metal doughnut pan such as Wilton or Nordic

The Recipe

donut batter:

1 cup of apple cider (heat in a saucepan until it’s reduced to 1/2 cup)

2 cups flour

1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

2 tablespoons melted butter

1 tablespoon milk

1 egg

3/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

Cinnamon Sugar Topping

5 tablespoons melted butter (set aside for dipping)

1/2 cup white sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

  1. Melt your butter and set it aside in a bowl.

  2. Combine your cinnamon and sugar in a separate bowl.

  3. Set aside for when your doughnuts have been baked.

Procedure:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Be sure to also grease and flour your donut pan.

2. Combine all of your dry ingredients in a bowl for the donut mixture.

3. Add your liquid ingredients and mix well until a cake-like batter is achieved. If using a mixing attachment mix on low speed.

4. Fill your pan with batter about 3/4th of the way. You want to allow some room for when the donuts rise.

5. Place into the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes.

6. Once they have cooled a bit (5-7 minutes) flip them out of the pan, quickly dip them into your melted butter, and then place them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
